Illustrated Poem Love for
Drumbeat Hear My Cry
I Love the challenge of taking a feeling and giving it breath in the form of visual representation. This was a fun and meaningful project that hit very close to heart. The work looks even better in hand ;)
Description from the Author:
"Drumbeat Hear My Cry is a poetic journey through Black America though not to be confined to Black America. Much of what this nation is going through has distinct parallels to the Black experience. I took the hardships of my life on South Side Chicago to exhibit the frailty of this nation. The human experience is without prejudice to the maladies of regression, victimization and hopelessness."

Our Collaborative Process: From Idea to Icon
Our goal is always clear, friendly communication. We've designed a professional process to ensure your project runs smoothly and we fully support your vision every step of the way.
1. Discovery and Idea
Let's chat about your book or project—the direction, the feeling, the art, and the characters. Napkin drawings are very welcome here! We'll lay a solid pathway for your story. Work begins once we've sent a secure invoice and received the initial deposit outlined in your custom quote.

2. Roughs and Approval
We'll deliver a full storyboard, character designs, and color palettes. This is the most important step—it's the road map for your project. Think of this as the foundation and framing of a house. You will have a key revision point here to approve all sketches before any final color work begins.

Step 3: Final Art & Delivery
This is where we bring the approved sketches to life in rich, full color. (A quick note: All work is original and made by hand—no AI is ever used.) Upon your final approval, you will receive your high-resolution, press-ready digital files, perfectly formatted for your needs.

How Pricing Works
Every masterpiece begins with a plan.
We provide a custom proposal tailored to your specific story and budget. Our pricing is transparent, and our milestone-based payment structure is designed to be secure and manageable for independent authors.
For Covers & Feature Art
For smaller projects, we keep it simple.
A 50% deposit secures your booking immediately and launches the creative phase.
The final 50% balance is due only upon your final approval of the finished artwork, ensuring you are thrilled with the result before high-resolution files are delivered.
For Complete Publishing Packages
Large projects are broken into easy milestones to help you budget.
-
Project Kickoff (50%): Due upon signing the contract, your initial deposit is applied here. This funds the deep creative work, character design, and storyboarding phase.
-
Sketch Approval (25%): Due only after you have reviewed and approved the full book storyboard. You don't pay this until you are happy with the layout.
-
Final Delivery (25%): Due when the final full-color art is complete, just before we hand over the high-resolution files.
