Built from a single slab of locally sourced Middle Tennessee Black Cherry, this 50-inch waterfall coffee table is Studio Release No. 1—the first furniture release from our studio after I completed a 5-year apprenticeship in fine furniture making. It marks the beginning of a new chapter, bringing together traditional woodworking, sculpture, and a lifelong love of creating by hand.
One side showcases a 45-degree waterfall, where the grain flows continuously from the tabletop to the floor. The opposite side preserves the tree's natural live edge, which I carefully sculpted by hand into a subtle scalloped detail that invites you to reach out and experience the wood itself.
It's down-to-earth enough for barefoot mornings with a warm cup of coffee, yet refined enough to quietly ground an entire living room.
Before embarking into woodworking, my creative life revolved around pen, ink, and digital illustration. I never imagined pieces like this even existed until I found myself covered in sawdust every day during my apprenticeship. Working with solid hardwood completely changed the way I see trees, craftsmanship, and the beauty hidden inside natural materials.
Today, our studio creates artwork in several mediums, and this furniture collection is the newest expression of that creative journey—bringing a genuine love of the forest into people's homes.
Built to Last
One Continuous Slab: Crafted entirely from a single cherry slab, allowing the grain and color to flow naturally across every surface.
Traditional Wood Joinery: Joined with hand-fitted floating wooden tenons using traditional woodworking methods. There are no screws, nails, or metal brackets inside the table, allowing the wood to naturally expand and contract through Tennessee's changing seasons while reducing long-term structural stress.
Family-Friendly Finish: Finished with Saicos natural hardwax oil for a silky matte appearance that repels water, resists everyday spills, and is non-toxic, food-safe, and safe for homes with children and pets.
