Funtional Nature
for Modern Spaces

PHILOSOPHY

Nature is inherently beautiful. It doesn’t take much to help it speak.

In a fast-paced, manufactured world, we believe that we fundamentally need nature inside our homes. We need it to breathe, to ground ourselves, and to feel inspired. The raw, living energy of the forest has a profound ability to center a room and enrich our daily lives.

Our philosophy is simply to step back, hold hands with the material, and let the wood tell its own story—bringing that essential, calming presence directly into your space.

PURE, FROM THE SLAB

Our process begins in the quiet observation of the raw material. We study a slab from every angle, letting the grain, the live edge, and the natural checks dictate what the piece wants to become. We deeply respect the decades it took for the tree to grow, and our goal is simply to carry that living energy directly into the home.

Everything in our work is built with intention, from the slab down to the dowels. We rely on traditional wooden joinery because it creates heirloom-quality furniture that can breathe, expand, and contract naturally with its environment.

We simply have a profound passion for preserving natural beauty and honoring the stories already written in the wood.

BRANCHING OUT

Our studio currently has access to our good friend's private reserve of over 60 premium slabs—including White Oak, Red Oak, Poplar, and Cherry. They are patiently air-drying, resting before their final kiln conditioning. In just a few months, this raw timber will be ready to be transformed into custom dining tables, coffee tables, desks, and shelving.

While our finished, ready-to-ship inventory is currently small and highly curated, it is steadily growing.

In this season of anticipation, our focus is on connection.

We are actively looking to build meaningful, collaborative relationships with like-minded creatives—designers, homeowners, and fellow nature lovers who want to help us shape this timber’s final story.

LED BY PASSION

When I left the Los Angeles for the quiet woods of  Tennessee, we were searching for a grounded place to raise our three children. Shortly after arriving, my wife had a vision: she wanted us to build a tiny home.

I was hesitant. My entire creative background was in digital illustration, pen, and paintbrushes—at the time, I didn't even know how to use a hammer or a drill. But I saw it as an invitation to push my creative boundaries, and I jumped feet-first into the sawdust.

That leap led me into a rigorous, five-year apprenticeship under a master of live-edge furniture and a devout lover of nature.

Day after day, we built massive, one-of-a-kind custom pieces—tables, chairs, desks, countertops, and mantels. Working with solid hardwood completely transformed how I saw craftsmanship. I fell deeply in love with the discipline of organic woodworking and felt a calling to carry that love forward.

THE STUDIO ETHOS

Rabbit Trail Studio was born out of that shared journey. We set out to create a space operating purely on imagination, narrative, and a profound passion for the spirit of the world around us.

As a multi-disciplinary visual art studio, our medium always adapts to the story—whether that means traditional dip-pen ink, a large-scale mural, or an heirloom piece of fine furniture.

At our core, we believe that bringing a vision to life requires genuine connection. Whether that relationship is with another creative mind, an interior designer, a client, or the raw wood slab itself—we don’t force the material. We hold hands.

Today, we are building our own legacy: telling stories through timber, honoring the uncompromised beauty of nature, and helping you transform your space with art built to last for generations.
