Milled from three sequential 2.5-inch slabs harvested from a single Middle Tennessee Black Cherry tree, this 60-inch cascading console shelf is Studio Release No. 2—the second signature furniture release from our studio following my five-year apprenticeship in fine furniture making.
It marks an evolving chapter for our studio, bridging the gap between traditional woodworking, fine sculpture, and an organic love of creating by hand.
Designed to celebrate the tree layer by layer, each tier represents a physical chapter of the exact same trunk. As your eyes move down through the three tiers, you are tracing the growth rings, grain character, and natural story hidden inside that single tree.
On the right side, the heavy timber steps up into a striking 36-degree angled miter, while the opposite side preserves the tree's natural live edge in a cascading step-down that invites you to reach out and experience the raw wood itself.
Whether placed in an entryway, framing a hallway, or set behind a sofa, it functions as a living sculpture—giving your favorite objects a layered stage while bringing the quiet, grounding presence of Tennessee timber into your daily life.
Today, our studio creates artwork in several mediums, and this furniture collection is the newest expression of that creative journey—bringing a genuine love of the forest into people's homes.
Built to Last
Three Slabs, One Tree: Crafted from three sequential slabs cut from the exact same cherry tree trunk, allowing the grain, character, and growth layers to unfold naturally as they step down through the piece.
36° Miter & Traditional Wood Joinery: Joined using traditional woodworking methods with a hand-fitted 36-degree miter, interlocked center timber supports, and floating wooden tenons. There are no screws, nails, or metal brackets inside the frame, allowing the solid timber to naturally expand and contract through Tennessee's changing seasons while reducing long-term structural stress.
Family-Friendly Finish: Finished with Saicos natural hardwax oil for a silky matte appearance that repels water, resists everyday spills, and is non-toxic, food-safe, and safe for homes with children and pets.
